MARRIED: MICHELLE & ROB

When I first met Michelle almost a year ago her main concern was amazing photography …. and capturing some amazing portraits of her and Rob. Michelle and Rob had planned for a small intimate ceremony and a cocktail party at their house for a celebration. They wanted to have the focus of their commitment and love for each other. And also make a point to share the blending of two families together.

I started out my day at the house with Michelle .. she had the most simplest dress and amazing places to capture a couple of details…

I love this moment as Michelle is putting on Rob’s boutonniere and her son watches from behind ..

The ceremony was very small and intimate … it was held in the tiniest church in Rocky Hill .. so personal and beautiful. There was all this woodwork and beautiful light coming in through the windows that opened up …

After the ceremony we went to this AMAZING secret spot in Rocky Hill … see I grew up in Rocky Hill and just when I thought I knew all the perfect places to shoot at I found this little gem … of course I went back last week and they mowed down my hidden gem of a spot! Figures …..

See the yumminess I am talking about … be there at the right time of the day and BAM!!!! Perfectection on many levels ….

After my secret place we hit up the train tracks down by the ferry … a favorite spot of mine always!

She steps out of the big old farm house … grinning from ear to ear! She looks up ….. she looks down ….. she walks faster and faster. Grinning and picking up the pace …. all dressed in her new wedding gown. She is anxious …. she cannot wait to see him …. she shuffles down the long dirt path way in her hot pink heels. She pauses , approaches him …. touches his shoulder …… and he turns around with the biggest smile from ear to ear.

MARRIED: JEN & ANDY

I had the up most pleasure of capturing the wedding of Jen & Andy at Tyrone Farm. It was the most perfect September afternoon .. not hot .. not cold …. PERFECT! I have not been to Tyrone Farm in awhile but it is one of my FAVORITE … and I say that very meaningful … favorite places to shoot. The view , the barn , the big old farm house …. just to mention a couple reasons of why I love this farm. But the real reason itself is the owner. He is the most personable, caring and accommodating person to work with. You should really check it out! …..

Okay now back to Jen & Andy ……

We got to start are day off with Andy and his boys!! These guys are so much fun and had me cracking up the entire time…. just a bunch of goofballs …. they love to laugh and have fun !

After some fun with the guys it was off to Tyrone Farm with the girls ….. one of the most amazing places at the farm is the farm house itself! The bright vintage colors and the light that peers through is amazing …. just see yourself…

This is one of my favorite moments of the day … a groomsman came with roses and a card from Andy to Jen … her expression is so priceless…..

Jen has so many amazing features ….. her personality shines through with laughter …. her eyes are always smiling …. oh and her tattoos rock! … I also want to mention that Jen’s flowers were amazingly done by Tyrone Farm! They grow their own fresh flowers and use them in the bouquets …. how cool is that … beautiful fresh cut … farm grown flowers!!!!! Yet another reason to love the farm even more!!!!

Andy and Jen opted for a first look … since sundown was early in the day they wanted to have a special moment and enjoy their time together. They decided that memories were very important … and given the amazing venue they had …. Jen & Andy wanted plenty of time for their memories to be captured.

After Andy & Jen had sometime to take everything in ….. we joined up with the bridal party!

Now some romantic time for Andy & Jen …. the long driveway tree lined ohh….

It was a beautiful September day …. she is sitting getting her makeup gently applied. She is eager, smiley and excited. “I’m ready for the dress …” she smiles , walks up the stairs …. with her mom and maid of honor in tow.

MEET: NEWBORNS J & B

Little J & B were a mere 12 days old when I came to their home to meet. Usually I photograph newborns no older than 7 days old …. but since these little guys were in NICU .. due to being early …. we caught them at 12 days old.

Newborn are so precious …. their soft skin … their want to be held … their innocence … oh to be a newborn ….life is so tough…. the sleep….

Every morning as I sit on my front steps having my breakfast tea I see them outside playing. A wave… a nod … and even sometimes a HELLO…… they are my neighbors …….. they are Family C!

MEET: FAMILY C

For about a year now Family C has been nothing more than a wave and a hello. Then one day we got taking …… over facebook ..ha …. and the next thing we are doing … setting up that family portrait!

Family C has the cutest 2 girls …. Meet Little R & B ….

We meet up at my new favorite place for photos …. right down at the Rocky Hill Ferry! The ferry is such an amazing playground for me! There are the docks …. the train tracks …. the fields …. the water …. and so much more!

Could not forget about mom and dad too … but of course Sooner had to join in …. he LOVES his MAMA!

I also got these amazing little tutu’s that little girls just love playing in …. just look!

“I’m LATE!” … she says as she rushes into the bridal suite at her venue. No worries says her bridesmaids … the photographer has been hanging with the guys. I turn around … look into her eyes …. take a deep breathe … and say … HAPPY WEDDING DAY! A smile appears … all the nerves disappear for a moment and she sighs ….. “I’M GETTING MARRIED!!!!!” … and a cheer comes from her bridesmaids and mom.

How is it that a month goes by and we have beautiful sunny warm weather and as soon as September hit… BAM! Rain again ….. but I LOVE a challenge …. I love that we cannot control the weather and I have to think out of the box…. what to do to create the most amazing photos that day? That is always my question to myself ….

We started our day out at the Aqua Turf …. I have to say the Aqua Turf has some of the most amazing service. They are very tentative to not only the couple but also the vendors! It is one of the only places that they keep asking the vendors if they need anything or any help! Like who does that seriously asking if you can help me ???  Oh and check out the rockin’ ring shot Megan caught!

One of best moments of the day is as the bride walks down the isle …. the emotion in her face , the parent face and the excitement in the groom ….

It was a rainy, rainy day. Forecast: Rainy with a chance of clearing around 5pm. She sighed. She stood in front of the large windows looking out into the water praying for sun … or just no rain. She had a tear in her eye … and then paused. She looked back at her maid of honor … “It will stop don’t worry” says her MOH. She looks back outside … closes the shades and then pops open a bottle of champagne. “This is the way my Dad would of wanted it to be” …. she says…..

MARRIED: KATIE & CHARLIE

When I originally met Katie & Charlie they had plans for a small intimate wedding up in Maine. Well I strongly believe everything happens for a reason. About four months ago they cancelled Maine and relocated to Connecticut …. Jonathan Edwards Winery. And boy good thing they did … because the previous weekend in Maine the hurricane blew through and well … we might of been out to sea ….. Okay that is an exaggeration…..

We started out our day with Katie at a very sentimental place … The Steamboat Inn. This hotel is right in the heart of Mystic and such a personal place to get ready. Katie opted for a small intimate wedding with about 50 guests. Very personable. Oh and her flower girl…… well she might of stole part of the show just see…..

These next moments are just well priceless …… just look at Katie’s expressions….

When we arrived at Jonathan Edwards Winery it was misty and cool out…… oh and wet! But Katie put a smile on and said “Let’s do this outside …. I don’t care about the rain!” And so all bundled up in our rain gear and guests with umbrellas we had one of the most intimate, personable and tear jerking ceremonies this year yet.

I am amazed at Megan…. just look at the photos she captured on the left side … really captures the feeling on the ceremony with all the umbrellas….

The bridal party … just check out the flower girl … seriously … she reminds me of how my niece will be in a couple of years ..

Now it’s time for romantics ….. one of my favorite things about the winery is there are so many places to putts around … so many great nooks to photograph in …. and they even allow us to walk through the vineyard …. how awesome is that!

Katie also had such great details … the dinner was very intimate in the wine cellar …. all light by candles ……

The amazing flowers were brought together by the wonderful Yumiko at Hanna Floral Design …… OUTSTANDING!!!

Lastly ….. right before we left … I swept off Katie and Charlie to the wine cellar for a end of the evening session … my FAVORITE of the night!

He ran outside eager asking us if we needed any help. He was excited, anxious and so proud for this day to be the day he marrys his LOVE! He keeps asking if he can get dressed, when and where we are to capture moments. He paces around and around and around his mothers kitchen. Okay, it’s time to get dressed, I tell him. His eyes light up ….. his face full of joy …… and his hands starts to shake … and he can only think of her ………it is time to get ready to get married.

MARRIED: MARY & MATT

Something so special about Mary and Matt is their sense of family and the bond that ties them all together. Something very special to Mary was a napkin that Matt’s parents have kept since their wedding. Megan really hit this ring shot on the nose by incorporating it in.

While Megan is on details, I was hanging out with Matt, learking around corners and watching him with a watchful eye.

After sometime with Matt, we headed over to meet up with Mary and the girls… another amazing moment caught by Megan.

Their ceremony was at St. Clement’s Castle, this venue is one of my FAVORITES!!!!! It is so fairytale, so Cinderella. The old castle turned into a wedding venue, the long driveway with the trees hanging down over the sides. As you drive up give you that sense as if you are in a far, far, away land. That you have left the present and have been swooped back into time of kings and queens. See for yourself! The ceremony site is just over looking the CT river, the perfect buttery lighting as she walks down the lawn to meet her future …..

As we walked back towards the castle…. the most amazing, beautiful light came beaming down through the tree tops and just hit Mary & Matt with such a glow…

Now here’s that long driveway, fairy tale feeling I was talking about…

The first dance ….. a moment that always gets me ….. tears in my eyes …. a moment unrehearsed ….

One of the most amazing things to me that day was the fact that Matt asked his father to be his best man. In Matt’s eyes his father has stuck by his side in all matter’s. Loving him, supporting him in difficult times and always being his biggest cheerleader. Then Matt …. you picked the best man…. moments during the toast..
