“Shaun and I met eight years ago at a party; we were both dating other people but we each caught each other’s eyes. We ran into each other from time to time; as our friends ran in the same groups. Then, we lost contact. We dated other people and in November of 2008, we both made facebook pages and found each other.” – Lauren

Val McCormick: Great eye with working that light! Beautiful images!

Fall is officially here … sweater weather … hot apple cider … pumpkin spice lattes and of course dark at 4 pm. Yes hello fall! With fall comes lots of portraits, wedding and engagement sessions. A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of meeting up with Sarah and Ed in NYC. NYC is very special to them … for Ed and Sarah both went to school in the city.”

NYC reminds me of times waiting for trains to go home …. roasted nuts from the vendors in Central Park and of course Ed.” – Sarah

So on a cool windy day I grabbed the train from New Haven and met Sarah and Ed in Grand Central Station! We started our session getting to know each other .. getting comfortable with the camera … and hearing stories from when they first met.

What I really enjoyed about this session in NYC was the fact that Sarah showed my the city better. We explored favorite spots of the city Ed and her would go to …. Grand Central Station …. Central Park and the steps at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Sarah and Ed – Thanks so much for showing me your city and I look forward to your 2011 wedding!

Alex Workman: Killer shots! Keep up the great work!

They LOVE their two dogs like children … they LOVE the Jets, their basement is even painted Jet’s green … they love the town they live in and everything about it … the wine … the views and the people. They are in LOVE!

SHANNON AND NICK

I meet up with Shannon and Nick on what was the most perfect fall October morning! The golden sun was shinning through … the cool weather was lifting to a warm afternoon .. and LOVE was in the air. When I was talking to Shannon and Nick about their engagement session they has mentioned they enjoy everything local. The farms, wineries and the town they live in. So when they mentioned Gouviea Vineyard it was only natural to photograph their LOVE there.

First I want to introduce the two starting stars in the show …. these adorable two boston terriers …. come on how cute are they!

Shannon and Nick – I had so much fun playing with your doggies! See you in April! -

“It was at a BBQ house warming party that Pete caught my eye. I watched him all day and later that night around the fire pit we talked. He has been supportive of not only me but my daughter as well. With Pete, we can be doing nothing or be grocery shopping … as long as I have him and my daughter Kelsey I am  fine just hanging out.” – Amy

AMY and PETE

When I first meet Amy and Pete, Amy was so excited about every little detail of her wedding day. It was so exciting to her that her and Pete’s wedding day not only is a commitment to each other but a new journey with her daughter Kelsey. The beginning of a new family. Amy really wanted a sense of the outdoors but also a contrast to the concrete jungle … also known as Hartford. So we started out our day in Hartford! I love Hartford! There are so many neat little places to cuddle, walk and run about.Hartford Engagement Photos

After sometime downtown, we headed over to Elizabeth Park in West Hartford. Amy and Pete are marathon runners … the like to run races together … so when Amy and I talked we had to incorporated it in somehow while having fun!

“He ALWAYS makes me laugh … He has a strong soul and encourages me through life … we always eat breakfast together …

and we are absolutely best friends!” – Kirstin

KIRSTEN AND BARRY

Kirstin and Barry are like two peas in a pod … like mac and cheese … like peanut butter and chocolate!

Certain things in life just belong together and that was evident about these two.

Tyler and I met up with Kirsten and Barry a week ago at their favorite place ... Harkness Memorial Park in Waterford. See Harkness is very special to the two of them … not only is it where Barry proposed but … lots of family picnics and memories are here. Since they picnic A LOT here and enjoy wine we started right near the tree Barry proposed at for a little cuddling, wine and laughter … which there was a lot of.

Eric Foley: Love the shots of them laughing from the ground.

“He will hold me close after a long day until everything else disappears. He is spontaneous and always seems to surprise me. People seem to think we are complete opposites, and that there are many differences between us. However we do not see it that way and believe we have more in common with each other than people think. Some how it all works.” – Heather

HEATHER AND DARRELL

After ALOT of phone conversations, e-mails and planning I got to meet Heather and Darrell. See they live in Washington DC and we really did not have a chance to meet prior to the engagement session. So …. this session was a getting to know you session in many different ways!

Tyler and I met up with Heather and Darrell over at the beautiful Elizabeth Park. Right now the park is in its most beautiful state. The rose garden is at it’s peak and well words cannot say how amazing it is! See for yourself!

Heather and Darrell I cannot wait for your August wedding!

until then xoxo nikki nic

“We both attended Central CT State University and lived in the same dorm. We met in fall 2001 and started dating in May 2002. I became friends with one of the girls that lived across the hall on my floor who had an acquaintance on the guys’ floor. This acquaintance happened to be friends with Anthony. We all started hanging out, playing cards, partying, etc. Anthony and I became close right away, got along great and well liked each other. I had a boyfriend though so he just had to wait! Good thing he did!” – Danielle

DANIELLE & ANTHONY

After learning about how Danielle and Anthony had meet I knew exactly where we needed to start off our engagement session. CCSU of course! Heading back to CCSU was so much fun! Not only was it fun to hear all about the days when Danielle and Anthony attended but… it also reminded me of the days I had attended there …. well that one semester.

I also found out that Danielle and Anthony have a great love for wine! They enjoying relaxing at home watching a movie, dinner and wine for a date night. I thought it was only appropriate that we then head over the Stanley Quarter Park for some cuddling and wine.

Danielle and Anthony I cannot wait for your wedding in August!

Pam Moan: Great shots! Looks like a fun day :-)

Katie Slater: Love the moment in the last one! Great job!

They just bought their first home together, excited, overwhelmed and ecstatic!

She’s maybe thinking an engagement will be today …. maybe someday.

They are new home owner’s.

KIM + MATT

I have know Kim for the past year from Crossfit USA. We have laughed, we have struggled with the workouts and we have become friends. So when she closed on her new home, I was excited to hear that she was interested in a new home owner session.

I have never has the request the day of a closing for a new home owner session. It was exciting! To be one of the first person to see their new home and share all their excitement with them.

This last photo is my absolute favorite of the day ….

Kim and Matt is was such an honor to be a part of your exciting day!

xoxo nikki nic

Eileen Broderick: What a great idea!! And how incredibly sweet that he proposed a few days later. Nikki--these are just beautiful. I love them all. Such pretty expressions and sweet emotion in the series in the yard and this last one is stunning. Congrats to Kim and Matt on the house and their engagement!

“We met in 7th grade in 1992. Mark and I were friends all through high school and even hung out with in the same crowd of friends. Then one day something happened … this friendship some how, some day turned into a LOVE for each other … and well here we ENGAGED!” – Creedance

ENGAGED: CREEDANCE & MARK

It was the rainiest day of November. When I mean rain, I mean pouring …. like buckets …. like cats and dogs. It was also cold … so frigid your fingers feel like they are going to freeze off. But Creedance & Mark braved it all … all for the love of each other … all to have those amazing engagement photographs. Why have your engagement session in the rain … well why not. You cannot control the weather on your wedding day …. and you cannot control the wedding on your engagement session either.

When I first met Creedance and Mark I noticed something very special about them as a couple. It seemed that no matter what type of day Mark was having Creedance would always get a laugh or smile out of Mark. I knew right away that when it was time for their engagement session we would have a blast together.

We met in Mystic at this old cemetery on the water. A cemetery … YES a cemetery. This location is so beautiful with many nooks and beautiful scenes to capture lifestyle portraits.

See  … you would never know …..

2010_0806_1

I love the long paths all through out this location ….

2010_1105_4

As we were braving the rain and walking around I found this magical little spot that we had to climb down this crazy slippery slope and almost landed into the water. I have to say though it was well worth it ….. I think these maybe some of my favorite images from this day!

2010_1105_3

2010_1105_2

After sometime in this location we then headed down to the center of Mystic. Mark and Creedance are really interested in all things nautical … so as we drove by I had to stop at this location.

2010_1105_6Creedance and Mark thank you for being such good sports on this rainy … rainy day!

I look forward to your wedding in November!

He’s a country boy… She’s a city girl

He’s tall … really tall … She’s … well … umm … smaller than him

He’s goofy … She’s silly

He got down on one knee in Grand Central Station … She said YES!

IN LOVE

Jen and Thom … When I meet the two of them all jen kept saying was “He’s a country boy and I’m a city girl!” So it was a no brainer that once I heard about their NYC engagement we had to go! They really had this idea of a vintage theme since they got engaged at Grand Central Station … So what’s a photographer to do but get creative and enjoy it!

When I got off the train in NYC and meet up with Jen & Thom they were excited and ready to go! They even packed their clothes for later on in these vintage suitcases!!!!
